Genetic Results
Hello everybody,
This week the genetic engineering group took part in acivities such as fingerprint analysis, extraction of DNA and blood testing. On Tuesday we had the luck that a policeman visited us. He told us about the methods used to solve murders and how he would restrain a criminal. He also showed us some of the weapons that are used in doing so.
On Thursday we travelled to Dortmund to do DNA fingerprinting. We used the same methods as professional forensic scientists. For example the PCR and methods like the gel-electrophoresis.
Also on Tuesday we did a DNA extraction from an onion and when the DNA had been successfully extracted we could look at it under the microscope.

Lots of love from the genetic engineering group !!xx!!
The thing is ... Sarah and I are just sitting around and don't know what to write! So we just talk about everything unimportant. For example ... Daniel and Juan overslept :P and missed the briefing in the morning! Such a disaster! What a shame :P Hmmm ... What else to say? Yeah ... When we visited Cologne, we were in the Hard Rock Cafe for a drink! Giulio ordered a Vodka-Strawberry-Red Bull. Unfortunately, he had to pay for all of the things in his drink separately!!! At the end he had to pay nearly 10 €. HA HA! So he was really disappointed. Poor Giulio.Just one word about the pubs, the BRAUSTÜBEL is an economic highlight, because the Irish pub had not enough space and seats. So it was extremely crowded. The only alternative was the BRAUSTÜBEL. And it was even cheaper=) Was a really nice ambience when several different international cultures got together. On Tuesday we had ... hmm ... was like a singing contest! When we were sitting around in this pub, the Spanish started to sing traditional Spanish songs and challenged the other nationalities. It was very loud and we thought we would be kicked out in a couple of minutes. The barkeeper seemed to be really angry! But we didn't care about! It was too much fun. So that's it.
Well, to get back to the genetic engineering, we have to present our results on Friday (tonight). Will be ... hmm ... HORRIBLE!
