Notizen zur Workshop-Arbeit /Minutes of the workshop activity

7.35 h - 27. März 2006: briefing in the Gymnasium Waldstraße Aula. Too early for most of the students, who normally begin school at 8.20. Frau Wulfers informs us in a short speech about the day: First we're joining our hosts in their normal classes, afterwards the real work(shop) begins.

At 9.15 h, Frau Hegemann welcomed us in the "EU after its enlargement"-workshop. First we introduced ourselves (9 people from 4 different countries) and then we started working. After a brief planning for the rest of the week, it was decided that we would spend the day talking about the main European Institutions: the European Commission, the European Parliament and the European Council.

eu-mo1.jpgFirst of all, we split into three groups with different nationalities and discussed the functioning of the European Commission.

With the European Parliament and Council still coming up, certainly, we´ve got a lot of work yet to do.

7.30 h 28 März 2006: Briefing in the Gymnasium Waldstraße Aula. After that we began with the workshops. We worked in four groups: Social System (Teun and Ula), Education (Kathi, Milan and Magda), Culture (Corinna and Marcin) and Politics (Vicky and Sam). We wrote down our vision of the EU. We created a powerpoint presentation.
At 19.00 h, we were in the Altstadt of Hattingen and Kathi and Corinna showed us the city and then we went to the Irish pub. We spent the time together.

7.50h 29 März 2006: We went to Cologne by bus, we were travelling for an hour. We saw the Dom in Cologne and then we could choose between a visit to the museum or free time. Many people went to the Chocolate Museum and many people went shopping in Cologne.
At 17.00 h, we went back to Hattingen.

7.30 h 30 März 2006: Briefing at school about the day.

At 13.00 h, we went to the Henrichshütte-Museum in Hattingen. First we got some information about the area and then we waited for the guide in the restaurant. Then the guide came and we walked around the museum.

eu3.jpgThe Henrichshütte-Museum was set up in 1987 and is  rich in history and tradition. Ore and coal were mined here, coke, iron and steel produced, cast rolled, forged and processed - all under a single roof.
