Technology trip to BP
The day before yesterday the technology group had a trip to the petroleum factory BP. They drove with the bus from the school to Bochum where the factory is.
When they arrived a guide showed them the whole factory. He told them, that BP is one of the most important companies from Europe and what products they sell.
One of the fundamentals of BP is to bring forward the economy with the latest technique. But in doing so they are always carefully and try to not to severely damage the environment. They also say that energy security comes into existence by energy diversity. So they use different modes of energy production.
Mineral oil, natural gas, wind, solar, bio diesel, energy efficiency. Every part of this plays an important role for an energy mix that is enough for the whole world.
The tour took 4 ½ hours at last some guys said.
After that they got a lunch from BP, some Sandwiches. Then they had a discussion about what they have heard and about the use of alternative energy instead of nuclear energy. It was a really vehement discussion where the students disclosed their opinion to the others.
All in all the day was very informative.
Today, on April 7th, the technology group is going to have a trip to the Opel factory. Hopefully this will be as awesome as the trip to the BP factory.
